Movie Story

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) is a blockbuster movie based on the fantastical adventures of the superhero made famous in Marvel Comics. The fifth cinematic version of the Spider-Man stories in all, it is a sequel to the highly successful 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man.

In this second episode, the diffident Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) has reconciled himself to his secret-hero status and continues to pit his powers against New York’s underworld, when not dwelling upon his self-denied relationship with Emma Stone (Gwenn Stacy). Having overcome, at least temporarily, the deranged Electro (Jamie Foxx), Parker is approached by his friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) for help in obtaining blood from Spider-Man to treat an hereditary condition he is suffering from. When Spider-Man rejects this request, Osborn, now transformed into the Green Goblin and in possession of his own super-powers, plots his revenge. Spider-Man draws on his deepest resources to save the city but he pays a terrible price in the process. Subsequently Parker resigns from his Spider-Man duties, until a new threat forces him back into the red-and-blue suit. The film culminates in a thrilling final battle with the forces of evil.

Directed by Marc Webb, the movie received mixed reviews on its release. Critics complained that extensive rewriting and the deletion of several scenes had resulted in some aspects of the plot being left disconnected or undeveloped as originally intended. Fans of the film, however, considered that it came closer to the original comics than previous versions.

The supporting cast includes Sally Field as Aunt May and Paul Giamatti as Rhino. Stan Lee, the creator of Spider-Man, makes a cameo appearance, playing a guest at Emma Stone’s graduation.

Plans for further films in the series were shelved in the wake of the film’s relatively modest success.

This a dark and impressively bleak depiction of the adventures of the most complicated of the Marvel heroes. The quality of the acting and the special effects lifts the film above the somewhat confused plot and even if it’s not best of the Spidey movies it’s still worth seeing.

This movie is amazing. The plot of the movie gets mixed up in a multiple villain strings, but ultimately this installment is emotionally weightier and more pleasing than its predecessor. It was able to rectify where the predecessor failed. Simply amazing

I have to admit I have mixed feelings about this movie. As someone who never followed the comic books, the entire Gwen storyline was new and kind of weird to me. The movie itself though, like the story, the acting, the stunts were all well-done and overall it was enjoyable to watch.

    Looks amazing.

The special effects are simply awesome, but there are a few weak-points.
The story-line felt a bit confusing to me.
There are also definitely some scenes that the movie could go without, but otherwise I enjoyed the overall adventure; especially the way electro looked!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is yet another insipid addition to the already overly-saturated comic book market. Though Andrew Garfield gives another reasonable performance in the role of Peter Parker, this sequel lacks anything in the way of inventive storytelling, leaving the intended franchise dead in the water.
